While children are prone to falls and breaking bones, the bone is more elastic than mature adult bone and is less likely to break. Children’s fractures are frequently treated in a cast and the same principals apply to their care and management.
When attending the fracture clinic, come prepared. Your child may need to have x-rays taken, the cast removed or a new cast applied. Therefore you may be in the department for some time. Bring along some snacks and favourite toys for you child to keep him/her distracted.
