Club foot, or congenital talipes equinovarus, is a treatable birth condition that affects 150,000-200,000 children each year, or in other words, 1.2 children per 1000. The foot is twisted inward and downward. Parents frequently become worried and feel shock, denial or self-blame. If you are a parent, do not worry, this condition is very treatable and the Ponseti method provides great results. It is not an emergency, it is usually treated with casting and it does not make a difference if casting is started at day 2 or day 10.
