For clothes covering part or all of the cast, ensure that the garments are a couple of sizes larger than what the child would normally use. For babies, use a baby suits a few sizes larger as it should cover the spica cast. Cover the childs feet with large socks or boots over the cast ends. For older children, a large t-shirt, long sleeve, or night gown is best. Girls prefer a dress as it fits over the spica cast. If the child wears trousers, use a large size, slit the seams and use velcro to approximate the edges.
